Cambodia’s Men’s and Women’s Para Throwball Teams Retain Asian Championship Titles in Malaysia

Cambodia’s men’s and women’s para throwball teams have successfully defended their titles, winning gold medals in both categories at the 2nd Asian Para Throwball Championship held in Malaysia.
The championship concluded successfully on the evening of June 4, marking another major achievement for Cambodia’s para-athletes on the regional stage.
Speaking to AKP from Malaysia on Friday morning, H.E. Yi Vasana, Secretary-General of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia and Chairman Committee of the World Para Throwball, said the victories represent Cambodia’s second consecutive gold-medal sweep in the Asian championship.
He noted that Cambodia had also captured gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories at the inaugural edition of the tournament held in March 2025, when Cambodia hosted the event.
On behalf of the Cambodian delegation, H.E. Yi Vasana, together with officials, coaches, and athletes, expressed pride and satisfaction at securing another historic achievement for the country.
Cambodia sent a total delegation of 32 members, including officials and athletes, to the competition.
In the men’s final, Cambodia defeated Sri Lanka 3-0, with set scores of 21-11, 21-14, and 21-05 to claim the gold medal.
In the women’s final, Cambodia delivered another dominant performance by defeating host Malaysia 3-0, recording scores of 21-10, 21-17, and 21-13.
