ASEAN Observer Team Conducts Field Visit to Border Area in Pursat Province
AKP Phnom Penh, June 06, 2026 -- The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Head of Mission from the Philippines, conducted a field visit to the C1 area of Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, on June 6
The visit, facilitated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG), took place at 9:25 a.m. and aimed to review compliance with and implementation of measures outlined in the Joint Statement following the ceasefire, according to a press release issued this afternoon by the Spokesperson of Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence.
Cambodia reaffirmed its continued support for the AOT’s work and underlined the importance of strengthening the team’s role and mandate in verifying and ensuring full and effective implementation of the ceasefire and all agreed measures between Cambodia and Thailand.
The Ministry stated that enhanced monitoring efforts are intended to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust in the implementation process.
Cambodia also expressed its openness to support from friendly countries willing to contribute further to these efforts.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reiterated Cambodia’s firm and sincere commitment to fully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) signed on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated Oct. 26, 2025.
Cambodia further reaffirmed its commitment to all relevant agreements with the objective of accelerating recovery, restoring normalcy, and ensuring long-term peace and stability.
