Cambodia Welcomes U.S.-Iran Peace Agreement and Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Cambodia has welcomed the recent agreement reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as an important step toward strengthening the ceasefire, easing tensions, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement issued on June 19, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia reaffirmed Cambodia’s consistent support for resolving disputes through peaceful means.
“Cambodia has consistently supported the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect,” read the statement.
Cambodia also commended the efforts of those involved in facilitating the process that have led to significant achievements and hopes that the agreement will be implemented in good faith and lead to a durable and sustainable peace.
According to the spokesperson, peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the Middle East remain important for regional and global security, economic growth, international trade, and shared prosperity.
The statement added that reopening the Strait of Hormuz would help restore confidence in global supply chains and support stability in international energy markets.
Cambodia further encouraged all parties to build on this positive momentum through sustained dialogue and constructive engagement aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
