Over 1,500 Cambodian Workers and Diaspora Gather in South Korea for Warm Pchum Ben Celebration
AKL Phnom Penh, October 5, 2026 --
More than 1,500 Cambodian migrant workers and diaspora members residing in South Korea gathered on Oct. 3 for a warm celebration of Pchum Ben, Cambodia's traditional ancestors' day festival.
The event was attended by H.E. Seng Sakada, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, representing Minister H.E. Heng Sour, alongside H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea.
Organized by the Uijeongbu Volunteer Cambodian Community, the gathering aimed to dedicate merit to ancestors, fallen Cambodian soldiers, and the deceased, while fostering unity among Cambodians living abroad.
The strong turnout highlighted the community's commitment to preserving Cambodian cultural identity and traditions far from home, while strengthening solidarity and close bonds within the Cambodian community in South Korea.
During the event, Secretary of State H.E. Seng Sakada conveyed deep greetings from Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to the diaspora and worker community.
He also encouraged Cambodian workers to continue dedicating themselves to their work, while strictly observing local laws, workplace regulations, and host nation customs to safeguard the honour and dignity of the Cambodian people and nation.
