Cambodian Leaders Extend Congratulations to Laos on 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn have extended congratulatory messages to Lao leaders on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
In a royal message dated June 10 from Beijing and addressed to H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao PDR, His Majesty the King conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes to the Lao leader and people.
His Majesty highlighted that over the past seven decades, relations between Cambodia and Laos have continued to flourish, built on steadfast friendship, fruitful cooperation, and regular exchanges at all levels.
The King described the fraternal ties between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries as enduring and strong, comparing them to the flow of the Mekong River that has long connected and nurtured both nations.
His Majesty reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to further strengthening and expanding traditional friendship and close cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive and Long-lasting Strategic Partnership for the peace, development, and prosperity of both countries and peoples.
In a separate congratulatory message addressed to H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, Prime Minister Hun Manet, on behalf of the Royal Government and people of Cambodia, expressed heartfelt congratulations to the Lao Government and people.
The Cambodian Premier noted that diplomatic relations between the two countries, cultivated over seven decades, are rooted in longstanding historical ties and continue to expand across various sectors through regular high-level exchanges.
He said the anniversary serves as an important opportunity for both countries to reaffirm their shared commitment to deepening and strengthening the Comprehensive and Long-lasting Strategic Partnership, advancing national development goals, addressing regional and global challenges, and contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity for both peoples, ASEAN, and the international community.
Meanwhile, in a message dated June 11 to H.E. Thongsavan Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn also conveyed warm congratulations on the milestone anniversary.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn said the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on the achievements made through close bilateral and multilateral cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations on June 15, 1956.
He emphasise that the long-standing friendship between Cambodia and Laos has continued to strengthen over the decades, founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared aspirations.
The Cambodian Foreign Minister expressed confidence that through continued joint efforts and commitment to enhancing the Comprehensive and Long-lasting Strategic Partnership, the two countries would further promote national development and respond effectively to current regional and global challenges for the prosperity of both nations.
The exchange of messages underscores the enduring friendship and close cooperation between Cambodia and Laos as the two neighbouring countries commemorate seven decades of diplomatic ties.
