Cambodia Vows All-Out War on Cyber Scams as Top Officials Pledge Aggressive Crackdown
AKP Phnom Penh, June 17, 2026 --
Cambodia’s justice and security chiefs held an emergency-level meeting on Tuesday, vowing to deploy "aggressive legal and operational solutions" to annihilate the cyber-scam networks plaguing the nation.
Co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister H.E. Koeut Rith and Senior Minister H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, Chairman of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), the session zeroed in on real-world enforcement bottlenecks and the rising sophistication of transnational fraud rings.
The Ministry of Justice confirmed that both officials are now pushing for sweeping capability upgrades across all courts and prosecutors' offices, aiming to fast-track prosecutions and eliminate legal loopholes that scammers exploit.
The ultimate goal is total eradication of tech-driven fraud within Cambodia and a fortified barrier against foreign syndicates using the country as an operational base. "We are deploying every legal and operational tool available," the Ministry stated, signaling a zero-tolerance stance going forward.
