Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation H.E. Hem Vanndy met with representatives of the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Association in Cambodia (LOSCBA) to discuss supply-chain resilience, local sourcing, shipment consolidation and the use of technology in the logistics sector.

Minister Vanndy stressed the importance of developing professional services and reliable logistics systems to strengthen Cambodia’s competitiveness, alongside continued investment in infrastructure.

“Competitiveness does not depend on price alone,” he said. “Singapore is not a country with low logistics costs, but why can it compete globally? It is because it has a system that people can trust, with standards and transparency. Building such a system is critically important for Cambodia.”

He encouraged the association to use operational data from its members to identify supply-chain bottlenecks, sourcing risks and opportunities to reduce costs, while drawing on practical industry experience to support policymaking.

The two sides also discussed the potential development of digital solutions to consolidate shipments from Cambodian SMEs and exporters, allowing smaller consignments to be grouped and transported more efficiently.

Mr. Chea Chandara, President of LOSCBA, said the association was working to strengthen the professionalism of its members’ services and serve as a bridge between businesses and the government.

“We want our members to become more professional and meet proper standards. We do not want to be seen simply as transporters, but as service providers that deliver quality and confidence,” Chandara said.

He also highlighted the need to better connect domestic manufacturers and suppliers so businesses can source more production inputs locally, increase the use of local raw materials and prepare for changing market requirements as Cambodia moves toward graduation from least developed country status.

The two sides also discussed further technical solution cooperation on measures to reduce time and costs in logistics and supply-chain operations, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of Cambodian SMEs and industries.
