Indian Embassy Hosts 5km Run to Promote Health, Unity and Global Partnership
AKP Phnom Penh, September 28, 2026 —
The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh organised the 5-kilometre “Viksit Bharat Run 2026” at Botum Park on Sept. 26, bringing together more than 200 participants to promote fitness, community unity and international friendship.
According to the Embassy, the event saw enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora, Cambodian nationals, students, professionals, and local running enthusiasts.
The 5-kilometre route flagged off from Botum Park, proceeded toward the Small Roundabout near Wat Phnom, and concluded back at Botum Park.
The Phnom Penh run is part of a flagship global initiative organised across 125 designated cities worldwide. Designed to encourage healthy living, service, and civic pride, the initiative underscores India’s developmental progress while building support for the country’s “Viksit Bharat” vision for 2047—a roadmap toward a fully developed nation by its centenary of independence.
Addressing the runners and attendees, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, outlined the key aims and objectives of the Viksit Bharat Run. He also emphasised the power of community engagement and called on participants to actively foster international partnerships and contribute toward shared global progress. The Ambassador also expressed his sincere appreciation to Phnom Penh City Hall for their cooperation and support in ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Warmly received by community members and friends of India across Cambodia, the run served as both an active celebration of wellness and a testament to the enduring friendship between India and Cambodia.
