U.S. Embassy and EducationUSA Host 2026 U.S. Higher Education Fair in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, October 1, 2026 -- A total of 13 leading U.S. universities and colleges participated in the 2026 U.S. Higher Education Fair in Cambodia to provide prospective students with detailed information on academic programmes, admission requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
The event was jointly organised by the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia and EducationUSA.
Attending the fair on Wednesday afternoon, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, warmly welcomed the initiative. He highlighted that the fair aims to guide young Cambodians – particularly recent high school graduates – and their parents in exploring study options and capturing new educational opportunities in the United States.
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron noted that the steady increase in Cambodian students pursuing higher education in the U.S. reflects growing interest in the American education system among the country's youth.
Expressing his deep gratitude to the U.S. Embassy and EducationUSA for hosting the event, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that investing in education is an investment in the nation's future, stressing that quality education has the power to transform lives. Higher education is not merely about transmitting knowledge, he added, but also about cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address social challenges – areas in which U.S. higher education institutions excel.
Pointing out the diversity of higher education choices in the U.S., where each institution offers distinct entry requirements and educational models, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron urged students and parents to make well-informed decisions. He advised them to look beyond institutional prestige and select universities that best align with their personal goals, interests, practical circumstances, academic programmes, and learning styles.
